Below are some pictures of the damage done to farm from the tornado. Many folks have asked us for
pictures, and rather than try to send them out via email, we thought it best to post the pictures in one place.
Some positive news to come out of all of this--the farm turkeys, Red Man and Pocahontas, are proud
parents of chicks that hatched the day after the tornado (11 so far). Abby, RJ, Maggie Kate and Emmy Lou
have picked out their new pair of turkeys and aptly named them, "Tornado" and "Windy!"
We lost our cedar trees down by the lake.
They provided shade for the alpacas as well
as privacy for the house. As you can see,
they literally snapped near the base of their
trunks. They fell onto the corner of alpaca
pasture and crushed the fence.
Several trees fell in poor Rex's pen,
crushing his steel gate and his fencing.
A major portion of damage occurred when
our 22' x 40' steel building (with a 10' x 30'
overhang) lifted up off of the ground over our
pickup truck which Ron was sitting in, ripped
over the double barn and pasture fence and
landed in the front pasture in a heap. The
building served dual purposes--storage for
hay on one side and storage of personal
items on the other side.
The path of the storm touched down along
the pool and blew the fence out into the
pasture. Items, such as chairs, a filter, etc.
were blown into the pool.
The children's trampoline was picked up out
of the completely fenced in front yard and
carried into another front pasture, where it
slammed into a run-in and landed in a
crumpled heap.
The front entrance to the farm, formerly
marked with large ornamental trees and the
Eagle Cove Farm and The Harold Family
signs has changed dramatically now that the
trees were broken during the storm and one
of the signs were blown out of place. We
have temporarily put the ECf sign in place to
keep the donkeys and horses from escaping.
